Grind setting for Cafelat Robot: extra fine.
Set up, step by step.
Do this once before your first brew. When you're ready, the matching brew guide takes over with a live, guided timer.
- Boil enough water for the basket and optional long cup Do not weigh the basket water. Fill the basket as directed, and keep 208g available only if you want to turn the 32g espresso into a 240g long cup.
- Weigh 16g of coffee and grind it Use an espresso grind as your starting point.
- Place the professional basket in the portafilter The basket rests inside the portafilter without a retaining spring.
- Add the coffee and tamp it evenly A firm, level fingertip tamp is enough. There is no need to force it.
- Press the filter screen onto the coffee Seat the screen firmly so it protects the coffee when water is added.
- Fill the basket with water just off the boil Stop 5 to 8mm below the rim and take care around the hot basket.
- Raise the arms and lock in the portafilter Hold the arms at their highest point and make sure both portafilter ears are fully inserted.
- Place the mug on the scale and tare it to 0g Use a cup that fits securely beneath the basket. If you want the long cup, choose one that holds at least 240g.
- Check the Robot is ready Keep the mug centred. If you have a gauge, aim for 6 to 7 bar and never exceed 8 bar. Never use the legs for extra leverage.
- Let yield end the extraction Stop at 32g, even if the timer differs slightly. Aim for 25 to 35 seconds total, including pre-infusion. If 32g arrives faster, grind finer next time. If it arrives slower, grind coarser.
- Keep the spare cup nearby After extraction, Filtru will guide you to release the pressure and clear the remaining basket water into this cup before removing the hot portafilter.
- You’re all set! Press "Done" to start the timer. Filtru will guide the 1:2 espresso extraction, safe release and optional 1:15 final beverage dilution.
Ready for the first brew?
Filtru's guided timer tells you what to do and when. Connect a Bluetooth scale and it records weight and flow as you pour, so even your first brew is one you can learn from.
