I spent hours perfecting my presets. A recent update paywalled them completely. I do not care about history. Locking my hard work is unacceptable. Terrible business choice.

I’ve been using Filtru for at least 10 years. It has become a part of the day. My equipment has changed over the years but my app remains the same.

When the clock is counted down, the clock covers Dynamic Island ( another app ).

A versatile app with a heavy amount of detail if you want to go that deep. Free version lets you make a brew but you need a pro version to even look at your previous pours. $5 a month or $50 a year is way too much money for what I would use it for.

Would be nice to be able to edit the name of the step. Currently for a custom recipe its limited range of predefined values creates awkward combinations like “Prepare the following: push down the plunger”. And I still need to specify the mass for this step, even though it’s meaningless.

I have made the best cups coffee at home and put some solid coffee shops in my area to shame with the guidance of Filtru! There are so many options and methods it's such a great way to learn more about the best methods for coffee makers. I have been using the V60 and Aeropress for this.

I love the idea of this app. It has many great features, but almost all of them (including espresso) are locked behind a subscription or a very pricey one time purchase. I love the idea but I wish I could have a more affordable option.

Extremely limited, unless you buy a subscription. UI is not very intuitive, and the fonts wont fit the screen properly (iphone 14 Pro). I could connect to a BT scale, but the brew/tare process was confusing. No Hario Switch on methods. I find bean conqueror superior.

Excellent coffee brewing app with a lot of flexibility and excellent VoiceOver support. The developer always tries making the app accessible and fixes promptly Whatever bugs may pop up and is receptive to feedback and suggestions on how to make the app even more accessible. All and all in great app that I use multiple times a day.

I have been a loyal user of Filtru, relying on it daily for tracking my espresso shots, but the latest update has introduced a critical bug that makes the app unusable. The issue occurs on the final "All Done!" screen in the dial in process for espresso shots. I can manually enter all my data, including the Rating and Additional Notes like Pour Consistency (as seen in the screenshot), but the final confirmation button (the one at the top right, usually labeled "Done" or "Save") is completely inaccessible. It appears to jump and stick to an inaccessible part of the screen, making it impossible to tap or finalize the entry. This glitch prevents me from completing the critical step of logging and saving my shot results, which defeats the entire purpose of the "Dial In" feature. I can fill in the shot details (18g coffee / 36g yield) but cannot finalize the entry. Please push an immediate fix for this issue!

I fired up the app this morning for the first time in quite a while only to find out there’s been a complete redesign. After navigating my way to, and past, the start Brew screen I was looking for, I got started. The new design seems less intuitive than the prior format. The most important thing I needed was the rate of water edition, as I had developed a bad habit of pouring over too quickly, but the numbers were so small I could barely see them. An all too common typical “redesign“ leading to typical disappointment and now my loss of confidence in these operators.

I like the app. Just wish it would also support bluetooth pressure sensors for my espresso 🙏

Habe für 5,99€ alle Brühmethoden gekauft, und nachdem ich versehentlich Batch Brew ausgewählt habe, seh ich die restlichen Methoden nicht und kann diese auch nicht in meine Schnelleingaben auswählen und übernehmen. I truly am so thankful for this app. Not only does it guide you through a variety of brewing methods, but it does it in REAL TIME (and can even sync with your Acacia scale if you have one). I hope this app never disappears.

This app has great functionality. I love the timer and the graphics that display while you are brewing your coffee. However, the user interface leaves something to be desired. It was actually quite difficult to create a custom brewing recipe. One thing in particular, was that there was no way to dismiss the keyboard and access the save button at the bottom of the screen. The only workaround is to slightly pull down the recipe model to make the keyboard disappear.

I have brewed coffee with the Filtru app over 200 times . Using the App for Chemex and Aeropress . I love the customization of the app e.g. water to grounds to cup ratio as well as the coffe/brewing notes. Being able to so easily use this helps my coffee making game and the notes are incredibly useful as I work my way through the myriad of coffee rosters. I can always look back on my brew notes to help me decide to buy again or to change my brewing ratio. What’s not to love- I recommend this App to all my coffee loving friends! Try it , you’ll love it!!

I was using 1 custom profiles previously without any issue. When the app was updated to 4.3.1, this custom profile was removed without warning.

I did not know that my scales have a Bluetooth connection. I only learned it when I started using this app. Now it’s irreplaceable to have this app in coffee making progress. Everything is great about the app, it’s very functional and helps a lot in the process of making coffee in all the different ways.

When creating brew guide recipe there are none of the Aeropress specific tasks available like plug or press with a timer.

Tried a few different recipes and helps me consistently getting the results I want. All you need is a scale.

Baristas in my country have their own specialties based on local culture, and one of them is manual brewing. I happen to be pretty advanced in that field too. Back to the topic, this app is really useful. Features like adjustment settings can be done manually or automatically, so it’s just a matter of matching them to the coffee beans’ characteristics.

When I try to see Activity the app fell down and restarted. Any near update will resolve this issue??

Fácil de usar

Works well. Has a great guided brewing feature (that can be customized). As a beginner, I love the recommendations based on taste notes (if you say it’s a bit sour it will tell you to grind finer). The app has a few bugs and crashes every once in a while (the only reason I can’t give it 5 stars)

So convenient and straightforward. Great for coffee novices like myself trying their hand at specialty beans from home. The V60 recipe in particular makes great tasting coffee and that was my reason for downloading the app

The concept is fun and helpful for beginners. I still have not found that the default settings lead to good coffee which is the real goal.

I use the aeropress inverted so the app doesn’t support it. My other brewer is the Hario Switch which is likewise not supported. Neither does it allow for programming in award winning recipes. Nice idea but quite limited.

Worked well for a while but keeps crashing recently when I try to save changes after changing a dose. Please fix this 🙏

I can get to the "Most Popular" brew methods screen, but tapping on any of them does nothing. Returning to the home screen of the app after trying to add a brew method causes the app to become unresponsive.

In the brew history section, I can’t locate the flavor graph or the previous brew’s results recommendations (increase or decrease yield, finer or coarser grind). So I guess you can take a screenshot every time? Seems unwieldy. If I’m missing something let me know. Overall, the UI was confusing to use. I got frustrated trying to find things despite it looking polished.

Filtru is an app that is completely pay to use, other than entering coffee there are no actual user capabilities, one would typically see in an app trying to get folk subscribe to pro.

Optisch gefällt mir die App sehr gut und die Bedienung ist super einfach und intuitiv. Auch die Kommunikation mit den Waagen funktioniert perfekt. Für mich fehlt nur noch der Haro Switch in den Brührezepten.

Fantastic but needs some UX improvements. For example, would love to be able to duplicate a coffee bag instead of writing all the information in manually each time. The scan feature needs some work before it can replace this functionality.

$45 a year just takes notes is ridiculous. Make this a $4 app and I’ll buy it. Otherwise, I’ll just use a notepad thanks.

Mi principal pega es que la localización al español deja mucho que desear. Agradezco el esfuerzo pero llega hasta empeorar la usabilidad, con términos claramente traducidos por una (mala) app. Contacté con soporte para ayudarles a corregir algunos términos y pasaron de mí. Today I discovered that features that were previously available to me in the free version, such as the clever dripper and espresso, now require the PRO version. I won’t be using this app anymore. Very disappointing.

This app has become an essential part of my daily routine as I prefer to brew coffee with a pour over method. This app provides an easy “plug-in-and-play” on ramp if you just want simple directions for brewing a cup of coffee with a new brewing method, and it also has a whole suite of resources for power users who want to monitor their brewing technique down to the granular level of extraction ratios and beyond. App has been stable and had very few glitches or failures/restarts while using.

Good app for note coffee

I use this app any time I us the Aeropress or Chemex. It ensures I have the same brew setting every time. I’m able to make tweaks very easily if wanted and I can go back to past brews to see what I thought. This is the perfect companion for coffee makers who want to have consistent brews.

It is frustrating to not see costs until the app is downloaded then to get the surprise that in three days you will be hit with charges.

Started using this app when I added a Chemex to my brewing artillery and it had made it so easy to get great coffee out of the Chemex. Step-by-step process and very intuitive. Highly recommend!

Warum kann man nicht weniger als 30 Sekunden Brühzeit für Espresso eingeben? Die Limitierung macht keinen Sinn und sie gibt es trotz Pro Abo. Somit kann ich die App nicht benutzen. Ansonsten sieht die App gut aus, deshalb 2 Sterne. Ich mache jedoch nur Espresso… also bringt es mir nicht wirklich was. Wenn diese Limitierung nicht wäre, würde ich 5 Sterne geben.

Filtru has been super useful to help record my shots on my Flair. The UI/UX is fantastic and it lets you take note of a looooot of information as you please. HOWEVER — there is a fatal flaw when using a Bluetooth scale (e.g. the Decent Scale) in that you can’t manually correct the data recorded from the scale!!! I guess I can understand this from the perspective of not wanting to make it possible to cause a disconnect between the graph and the logged yield but… it doesn’t matter imo. Easy 5 stars if this is fixed <3

I’ve brewed hundreds of cups using Filtru and I’m gladly a supporter of the premium version of the app. The community has put James Hoffmanns recipes into the app which I use daily. The app is super intuitive and makes brewing easy and more fun. Adjustments to your brew are simple and you can even record the beans you’ve used. Stellar app especially if you use a V60

This is a great app that provides valuable and useful features for coffee enthusiasts. The only reason I removed a star is that the app has a bug when used with an iPad (10.5” pro) with the keyboard cover. While using the keyboard cover, the save changes button often disappears meaning you have to remove the keyboard cover to move onto the next step. An annoying but small bug in the scheme of things.

The best app to prepare the coffee with different methods.

So there was a couple UX improvements for this update but mostly new problems. I have ~700 brews with one particular method and the history function won’t load anymore. The recipe has a timer at the end now where you can capture the drawdown time but it is awkward to use and continues to pull scale data, and prompts you to “save changes” each time or it dumps the history data. Which I can’t even look at anymore.

This app works wonderfully with a Bluetooth, smart scale and my iPhone. It’s a great way to look up other popular brute techniques from online coffee personalities. I have yet to explore the New Pro features yet, but the free version is rewarding on its own. I believe it’s only three dollars for the pro version so I’m likely to try it soon. I wish there was a better way to record grind size and roast level (Dark/Light). Additionally, I’d like a way to record my TDS measurements from using a refractometer. That way I can qualify my extraction levels.

All my stuff has broken. Old recipes now show black screen.

I can’t start the brew from both saved brews or new recipes. No fix even after reinstalling.

I put in my usual instructions of a Bonmac at a water weight of 490g, but the instructions did not update and instead directed me to make a 250g cup. This didn't change no matter what water weight I put. Plus you can no longer skip forwards.

Leider kann man (bei Filterkaffee) nicht mehr die gewünschte Wasser- bzw. Kaffeemenge angeben, es ist im Brühprozess immer auf 220 ml festgelegt. Da die Pro Version absolut überteuert ist, ist die App für mich damit nicht mehr nutzbar. Schade.

It is a very well intended version but it has serious problems and bugs, like amount of water for each preparation and when is running in background it doesn’t notify in case another step is needed.

Using mainly to calculate coffee:water for my French press but… with newest update (vet 4), even if I set 250g of water, when I start brewing, app tells me to add 60g + 290g = 350. Is it some bug? Spend new settings? App reinstalled

Not sure what happened but in the most recent update you don’t appear to have the ability to browse or easily find recipes from other users. I think this is one of more interesting functions of the app but it seems to be becoming increasingly complicated and moved behind a paywall for Pro.

For a 3 cup Chemex portion, there is no way I can pour all of 1020g of water 5 sec after I’ve poured 540 on top of 75g of coffee beans. It will never happen.

Works well enough, some good capabilities. Coffee bean database is pretty limited; I get some strange & inconsistent results from scanning a bag. Has a few shortcomings, and using it only a couple times a month (I use other coffee apps also) makes the subscription cost seem silly, so I’ve opted out of that.

Has a lot of neat functionalities but is let down by crashing mid-brew on a regular basis in the past few months when connected to Bluetooth scales.

Beim Espresso / Kaffee zubereiten : mahlgrad kann ich leider nicht meine scala speichern und dann eine Zahl. Da steht nur : grob, Mittel , fein , extra fein, türkisch . Habe eine bekannte Mühle Mahlkönig E65S GBW und münschte mir da genauere Speicherung . Schade …

I get that it would be better if I had Bluetooth scales, but it feels overcomplicated and buggy. I’m not sure when I’m meant to use dial in vs just logging another shot. The taste grid is handy but doesn’t log consistently between dial in and logging. Every shot seems to force brew ratio to 1:2 no matter what I do. I want to like it, but it feels like a faff. Hard to justify a monthly subscription just to access the espresso brewing option.

If you have a Bluetooth scale, and a refractometer, and you’re actually trying to profile and tweak espresso then this app is likely fairly great as it supports all those features. But as a more useful tool, i.e. tracking grinds in volumes and output volumes, it fails. mainly because you have to specify your output volume or weight ahead of time, and after you pull a shot you cannot tweak it. In other words, it does not let you actually record what happened with each shot in a stepwise fashion. I compare to the side by side of being conqueror which lets you do just that. This is important if you’re trying to iterate by grinds or input volume she got the correct output as often recommended from the better third wave roasters. Also the brew guides are very rudimentary

I used this for my Chemex brewer and I love that this app has step by step instructions that are timed so you just follow along! So simple! I’m looking forward to trying it with my AeroPress as well.

Great app

I use this app every time I do a pour over no matter what brewing method I use. It allows me to change ratios, volume, and brewing methods effortlessly, and I can save my recipes in the app. It also has “coffee famous” people such as James Hoffman / Tetsu Sakuya profiles in the app to use. I hope this app never leaves this platform. I’d be devastated.

Update: same bugs & issues still persist making Filtru unusable. Funniest thing yet is a pointless “Year In Coffee” update released today crashed the app. Instead of fixing major existing bugs and UI problems, they add a new feature that is superficial and bugged. Original: The latest update has broken all the guides. One I made years ago now has duplicates of steps and are in random order. Worse yet I can’t edit the guide without the app crashing or the “save changes” button being grayed out. Totally unusable. They ruined their app with the latest update and it now has annoying “Pro” features advertised everywhere.

Why does the total time counter not continue when you pause the flow? For example; brewing a pourover and water is flowing too slow. Timer says i need to pour again but i can’t because there’s still some water left to flow through. So i pause the timer and when there’s no water left i resume the timer. Now at this point i have no idea how long i waited, and have no clue how much tweaking i need to do with my grind setting. You need to add a real, immutable total time elapsed timer.

New filtru update? Better syncing with scale & coffee bag detection? All wonderful. One fatal flaw… every time I multitask with Filtru to another app and return back, my phone restarts! Seriously every time. Please check if you’re dividing by 0 anywhere. I tested this by deleting filtru and my phone didn’t restart by itself every morning until I reinstalled filtru and tried app switching again.

Make a simple Apple Watch companion app will be awesome! You guys will be the first and probably every coffee lover will want to own an Apple Watch because of it. Second, maybe iOS 16 screen widget to show time left? Anyway, keep up with the great work!

Love the look and feel of this app, clearly a lot of work has gone into it. I’m just getting into coffee now so haven’t made use of some of the features yet but looking forward to experimenting more. The amount of work that has gone into this from an indie dev is astounding as it’s dripping with functionality. Was an easy decision to subscribe. 👍☕️

I use this app every day, but have found the new release to be problematic. There are quite a few bugs of the irritating and frustrating kind. It’s very good to see a new version, and I really hope the dev squashes the issues soon.

I’ve had this app for a while now. When I saw the update release notes recently I was excited for the new features. Found out after the update that the new features require a subscription. When I select “upgrade to pro” for $_.__ ( yes it doesn’t say how much) It does nothing. Also when trying to fill out setting and numbers for the beans for example the curser bounces all over the place and accidentally created a dose volume of 3000 grams. Hopefully thing improve.

I really was enjoying the app and it helped me but now since I have to pay monthly subscription I feel frustrated and I don’t think it’s essential and worthwhile.

Unable to upgrade

I really loved this app but after the last update doesn't work 😢 on iPhone 12 Pro. Reinstalling solved everything, but omy procedures were deleted.

Live this app. I’m always a bit behind the timer but the pause feature works great!

I tried to use this app with my Acaia scale for both espresso and a Hario V60 pour over. The initial recommendations of grams per cup and water ratios resulted in weak coffee in both cases. The part that guides through pour over was also incorrect: too much water for the initial pour, and then although it showed the total weight from the scale, it ignored the value and prompted to pour water either before or after it was needed. Finally, the guide finished before the pouring was done. If your trying to use a scale effectively, this isn’t the app.

I mainly needed an app to help regulate the speed of my pour and this achieves that. A few things are broken and need fixes: 1) once a step is saved, I have no way to amend it later. The "Done" gets greyed out. Even though the app knew I was missing 20mL, I basically had to retype the whole recipe to edit a single wrong number in an early step. 2) there is no feature to duplicate a recipe and make modifications. 3) it tends to round up the ratios.. I would like to choose my precision 4) steps sometimes force you to input a weight, which is annoying as some steps don’t involve adding things. 5) the grind settings specification should allow finer specifications such as “Medium Fine”. In fact, a widely used app could be leveraged to allow communication of settings between different users of the same recipe. If dozens of users enter “21 on Comandante” and dozens others use “17 on Timemore” then the app can help establish an equivalence.

Great app works well, but when I first got this a year or so ago it used to auto tare the Felicita Incline scale when brewing was started on the app… But now it doesn’t Bluetooth still connected can still see the weight on phone, it was just such a nice feature and to have it stop working drops the rating for me…

Would really like to see water in ounces or cups

I think this is the best coffee making app there is. It gets the balance between simplicity and fiddling about right, and the interface is really slick. I use it daily! Only thing missing is an Apple Watch companion app

I just needed an app to guide me through the process of brewing my chemex and aeropress, I like how this does just that and lets me change ratios and volume of water and coffee.

Can understand why this app has so many stars. Design is nice, but functions seems limited. Can’t edit steps, nor give a step its own name (AeroPress; steep, plunge, flip etc..)

This is exactly the app that I’ve been looking for. Some of the features work so well and I love the timer functions with the recipe on screen. I wish it would just work more intuitively in some areas. Text input is clunky and some buttons will display partially off screen for me with no way to move it. All my gripes are UI and compatibility improvements. I’d be happy to rate 5 stars once I see these improvements to the user experience! Almost a perfect app! Edited: Lowered to two star because of bugs in recipe creation. Please make all possible steps available at all times, and remove blocks for “not enough water” they’re not functional.

Since the latest update the 2021 Acaia scales are also supported! Now this is very useful indeed 🥳 Small nitpick: the input fields are somewhat finicky sometimes. Some need to be tapped a second time for new values to be „accepted“.

This app has drastically improved the consistency in brewing my coffee and I use this app every morning. The features are well designed and user friendly and I particularly like the audio cues when to move on to the next step. The recipe and the community selection of recipes are also great and give me an easy way to experiment with other brewing methods and techniques. The app has been working great. I use it with my Acaia Pearl 2021 scale, but the is past week the timer seems out of sync. It seems to be going half the speed as my scale and it’s throwing off when I should be pouring. I haven’t had an issue since this week. Pleasing aesthetic. Timer and directions are helpful. Pretty frustrating that the “Use from last session” auto fill function to use previous bean, grind etc data doesn’t work - it just fills the first line. I also find tapping to edit info for each line super unresponsive. Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Been to water ratio as well as the different kinds of brewing is useful but the directions for at least the Chemex brew is very fast. You should be pouring water at a much slower rate than the directions say to

I use this app for the chemex setting and I usually strive for about a 3-4 minute pour. The timer for the chemex setting seems to stop at about 2 minutes (I don’t know anyone who has that quick of a pour!) with no options to change. I use the time to make sure everything is going properly with the brew so I end up having to use a separate timer which is pretty annoying.

I don’t own a filthru filter but this is my go to app for making coffee. Whether is a pour over, French press or aeropress, the app lets me customise each recipe to be just the way I want it.

Just used it for the first time. While it’s a nice UI, I think it could be slightly more informative on what you can edit. I did find a bug, unless it’s intentional, where it was adding an additional 100 grams of coffee to my recipe. There is no way to edit that once you are done brewing either which is odd. The community aspect seems a little lacking but maybe I am not seeing the actual community and only highlights? This has potential to be a great app with some minor tweaks for sure!

An ingenious piece of equipment I use it twice every day it’s absolutely brilliant.

Everything I wanted when I was first learning to make pour over coffee. You can see how many grams of water are supposed to be poured out of total at any point! Plus you can add info about the coffee beans. When I first started I tried to keep track of every single origin coffee I had tried but now it’ll be easy! Unfortunately, on my 3rd gen iPad Air, I can’t use the discover tab. The app just crashes when I try to open discover

I created a recipe and can’t get it anymore. While I still had the recipe open I could completely delete a step but couldn’t change a typo. Unfortunately, since I needed a flexible timer to fine tune my brewing, this app does not address my needs

The app has all the different settings and steps to walk you through any type of brew. I highly recommend it.

I love to use the Kalita wave filter and this app makes it so easy to dial it in and repeat the same successful cup of coffee every time. I love how it helps you time your pour with an animated flow graphic. And the timer and sounds are clear and helpful. The directions take you through everything you need to set up the app.

When i edit recipe, its seems like the app didnt update the latest adjustment. After press done, it just go out to home. When i go back in, all my new edits arent there

Has really helped me improve my timing

The idea behind this app is a good one. The execution, however, needs work. Trying to create your own recipes is a total frustration. I wish the developers would release all the dependencies and just let you customize the ratios and steps the way you want.

App have to many bugs and doesn’t work properly. - French press - calculator cups-ml-g doesn’t work - There is mistake in FP recepie - there is a bug when you try select registration from Czech Republic (home country) - ect.

I have drank a lot of coffee in my day, and made a lot of coffee and even trained a lot of people on how to make coffee. I’ve never used an app that is as succinct and helpful and beautiful as this one here. If you are looking for how to make coffee and don’t want to look at YouTube endlessly or pay for a brew in class from your local coffee shop, then look no further.

Lacks the possibility to create custom recipes with special settings like „swirl the bloom“ then wait until X seconds and so on. Also the way to create custom recipes is not very straight forward. You have to scroll down to sections that are not visible to enter the step details... would be nice if i had the possibility to do so...

Has some issues. Have noticed when using French press option that it gets the water volume incorrect. Eg if you set it for 800ml it only tells you to add 470ml water when you start the process running. Also, when looking at the method for Moka pot, it suggests you should fill it with filtered coffee but it should say filtered water.

Have used a few brew apps in my day, I really enjoy how comprehensive this one is, many options, includes the syphon, and looks great too. Thanks as well for the blogging/brew journaling capabilities.

I like the UI a lot, I think it’s really neat and modern. I have two issues when using the app. When I create my own V60 guide, it doesn’t allow me to add two consecutive Pour Water steps, I wanted to add two pouring steps with different pouring rate but unable to. After I created the guide I found out that I made a mistake in the guide so I went back and edited the steps and pressed done, but then all my changes are gone. Please fix the bug for this amazing app!

The app is buggy imho. Captions and headlines overlap with icons while scrolling. It does not give me the option to enter my custom recipe as such.

App seems slick, but I can’t use my own ratio that doesn’t fit the set ones on the app. What if I want to brew 18g to 500g water? It won’t let me. Also when creating your own recipes the system is clunky, I can’t add steps without being forced to specify parameters like duration

The app works great with the Acaia pearl scale! However, the timer on the app makes it unpleasant to use. I have made chemex and v60 and I have to pause the app a lot throughout the brew cycle. It takes longer for the coffee to bloom or the water to drain through the coffee ground than what the app is configured to.

It’s awsome.very helpful.

Finally one acceptable app for coffee enthusiasts and professionals. Still there is big room for improvement and development, but this is the way. Keep it up!

Really nice app for making pour over coffee if you don’t own a digital scale/timer. I use Peet’s Coffee and the app does not list them as a Roaster. I hope they update their database as Peet’s Coffee is great. Wil Hinds.

My biggest issue is when I try to create my own brew guide (because I don’t love the included ones). First of all, it won’t let me save it because it says I need to account for more water...but I’ve triple checked and my brew guide accounts for all the water! Secondly, there’s no save draft and unfortunately one small swipe down will take you back to the other screen so you lose all your work. Very frustrating.

This app has become a key part of my coffee making routine, but there are obvious bugs throughout the app - particularly in the guide creating functionality and saving brew details. Appreciate this is probably being built by one person, but it would be good to see some work done in improving these areas

The app has a nice interface. And it would be good for my French press. But I think either I don’t like really strong arse mud, or the values are off. It’s telling me for two cups, I need 60g of coffee and 2.1 oz of water. Personally for my two cups I do 27g so 60?! Omg. My heart would explode. Then with only 2.1oz of water? Mud.

This is a great app however it needs more brewing methods. There is so much out there for in app purchases. Just saying.

I had been a barista for 7 years and never had a home set up but when I switched professions as did my love for coffee. This app gives you great guides for multiple brew methods.

User interface is great and I have no issues with the utility the app brings to my coffee experience. I just wish the Aeropress options included the inverted method.

Changing the ratio doesn’t adjust coffee and water measurements. Screwed up my first brew be cause of it. Wasted a nice Kona coffee.

I love their interface. Simple. Sleek. All the various types are perfect tutorials to get good coffee. The Bluetooth connection for scales to get proper pour rates is really unique. I would love to see an espresso machine mode with generic settings ubiquitous in espresso machines like time, grind size, and pressure

I like the look and feel of the app... However some functions that would be nice - I like how it logs how many times I brewed but I can’t recall any of the settings from the log unless it was manually entered - I like how it does the math based on the ratios and coffee amount, but again it doesn’t recall the last used setting and everything time I have to set grind size, coffee amount and ratio - probably the biggest in convenience if you leave the app during the brew... the timer pauses and when you come back it will start back up from the time it was when you left the app not running in the background

A nice app but would be great if user can change the water ratio they want. It provides 1:20 and there’s no way to brew with alternative ratios.

Good features but lots of simple bugs that could be easily fixed. No function to view list of relevant brew guides. No ability to insert a step into the middle of a brew guide, only add to the end.

I love the concept of this app but it’s severely buggy. None of the values I write in (for example for my Chemex) save, even if you’re just on a different screen.

I really wanted to like this app, as it looks beautiful. I wish that I could change the defaults for each brew method (e.g. coarseness, amount of coffee/water) as I don’t vary too much on my recipes. That being said, I know there is a way to add custom recipes, but I don’t want to add more options as opposed to just changing the defaults. Also the default grind size under V60 was medium even though the instructions clearly tell you to use fine.

I’ve been using Filtru for almost a year and have never had any issues with it. I love being able to set how many cups of coffee I’m going to make. My only limitations are my own Chemex. It’s always pretty cool to show people too.

Great app, love that you can customize. Only problem ive had is that you can’t add a “press” step for custom aeropress recipes

Some issues I see with this app are: - When selecting a brew method and inputting grams of coffee it doesn’t scale the selected ratio. For instance I may choose 22 or 24 g of coffee and it won’t change the water in g. Also it defaults to insane brew ratios like 1:10 or 1:12 (I want to make coffee not motor oil). Which wouldn’t be a big deal, but it doesn’t save your ratio from the time before. I tried making custom brew methods, but alas the brew ratio doesn’t scale. - When you finish brewing it changes the amounts used, so the pretty graph at the end is meaningless because it wasn’t the amount used during brewing. I find I have to manually input those details. - Compatible Bluetooth scales are sort of esoteric. No Acacia compatibly? Otherwise, it has potential to be the best.

The app is visually pleasing, but the “For You” tab in the app is too complicated. It makes it a too hard to just open the app and start brewing. There’s all this information to read, and generally, it’s not important.

This app is wonderful and I use it daily to make wonderful coffee! That said, I’d like to see more brewing options added and it doesn’t seem possible to view or import other people’s guides, despite the ability to share them? Keep up the great work, and I hope to watch this app grow and expand its wonderful footprint!

I love the design and the performance of this app; both are top notch! To me, the only thing that keeps it from scoring five stars is that I wish that it had a little bit more options for brewing methods. I just invested a lot of money buying equipment from Fellow, the company that makes such excellent coffee equipment like, the Stagg Pour Over system, or their Duo Brewing system. They’re very unique to their designs and no other device out there looks like them. It’d be very nice to see them as an addition to this already excellent app.

Helped to improve my water:coffee ratio as well as the pouring method. I’ve tried many different techniques over the web and using this app really helped to extract the nuttiness and chocolaty flavor of the beans I used while reducing the high acidity that I was experiencing with the previous method i was using.

Tried it out for the first time today and it worked well. Leads step by step. A great app for amateurs like me :)

I love this app, especially its versatility. I would love to see the possibility to add a field for extra information to each recipe/or each step. For example many grinders have more fine tuned settings for grind size than what is currently given in the app. E.g one may want to add extra information like grind setting 12 on OE Lido2 grinder. In addition, an icon for extraction time would be highly valued, which is important for aeropress and other methods. Though I still love the app!!!

Really incredible app, I've been waiting for ages to find an app like this. It's perfectly designed, has amazing functions, and helps me produce a great cup of coffee. I love it!

The design is yet the best to compare with any other paid apps. The customization is really precise with all the details offered. Please fix the bug that prevent any reorder steps and the save part. It will be an unfortunate if this app didn't being develop well. Surely a good thing for all coffee addicts and brewers.

Horribly frustrating to create a custom recipe, can't type in preparation steps, and custom recipe is buggy and lags when trying to run it. But I love the layout and the preloaded recipes are good and work well. Intuitive display and user interface for preloaded recipes.

Nice app with good range of brew methods, decent ui and look (if you like dark theme). Keep it up! Would be better if the ground vs water ratio features a more precise interactive slider.

This a very well designed and app and makes it easy to jump between different brew methods. I thought about developing my own app but this covers all my needs. Tutorial is a little long, I'd skip over it.

I recently bought an AeroPress and thought "Hey, I wonder if there any brewing apps similar to BeerSmith but for Coffee brewing?" Well after buying a couple apps, and finding out that the one has no support for recipe creation and the other was so buggy it wasn't functional, I stumbled upon this app and let me say I am thoroughly impressed! It is hands down the best coffee brewing app on the App Store. Recipe creation and timer is exactly what I was looking for and the fact it links with the health app to monitor caffeine intake is pretty awesome! I just want the developers know they have something awesome here and to keep up the amazing work!

So far this aid a great app, that does everything you need. Preloaded with a range of coffee methods (Chemex, aeropress etc.) A solid app!
